Why Problem Solving is a Stepping Stone

Problem solving can be rough at times, but it’s important to…

Fall in love with the problem!

I had a conversation with Dan Lewis, CEO of Convoy about starting your company. The process explained in the video is especially important if you are starting your first company. Most new ideas start because someone experiences a problem with something. So your company is built on that solution. When you are starting out and have just the idea of “I want to solve “X” problem. Start asking people about the problem and explaining how you solve it.

Here is the story that happens often. I was part of a panel discussion of this exact process. I was invited to share my thoughts on a solution to a problem that someone asked if I had the experience, which I had a few times. There were 5 of us in the room and we spent 45 minutes talking about the solution (their product idea) of better ways to solve this problem. But this is a partial mistake.

In the business world, the rear view mirror is always clearer than the windshield.-Warren Buffett

Study the problem be fanatical about the problem. Know every detail of the problem, how people are currently solving it and how they are motivated to NOT experience the problem. Fall in Love with the problem. Many many people fall in love with their idea of the problem and spent time working on the idea without really diving DEEP into the problem.
